Tips For Parents

Healthy Food Substitutions For Your Child

♦  When considering healthy meals or snacks, use one that your child already loves and make it healthier.(e.g: Mac N Cheese-use whole wheat or veggie pasta)

Invite your Children Into the Kitchen

♦   When you arrive home with your CROPS's bag ,introduce them to unfamilar fruits or vegetables and allow them to assist you in cooking your meals. (Safety Knives for young chefs are available that can eliminate injuries when cutting ingredients.)

Offer lots of Fruits and Vegetables Every Day

♦  Add some fruit to your child's morning cereal or include carrot sticks in their lunch. By implementing small changes to their everyday meals, your child will begin to love eating these foods and can become more receptive to different healthier options in the future. Remember, change does not happen overnight. Small steps will still get you to your ultimate goal of health for your little one.
